The Louisiana Pharmacists Association recently held its annual convention and recognized two pharmacists from the Baton Rouge area.

Angela Ross, of Walmart Pharmacy, was named Chain Pharmacist of the Year.

TJ Woodard, of Prescriptions in Geaux, received the Bowl of Hygeia award for community service and was named Independent Pharmacist of the Year.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Baton Rouge bestowed the following honors at its recent year-end celebration:

  • Industry Advocate: Diane Baum, Baum Environmental Group
  • Industry Champions: Chris Van Pelt, M&M Glass Co.
  • Industry Game Changer: Matthew Holmes, Holmes Building Materials
  • HBA Ambassador: Brigitte Tate, Capital Lighting
  • Industry Innovator: Angela Simoneaux Porrier, Acadian House Design + Renovation
  • Willie Martin, Martin Construction, was inducted into the HBA Hall of Fame in recognition of a career of proven leadership and service.

East New Orleans Hospital was named “Hospital of the Year (60 beds or less)” by the Louisiana State Nurses Association at its 2021 Nightingale Awards and Gala.

The hospital was honored for its concern for nursing values ​​and recognition of the achievements of registered nurses.

Stirling properties was recently named one of GlobeSt’s 2021 Healthcare Influencers, which highlights the people and companies shaping the healthcare real estate market.

In 2017, Stirling Properties developed its first mixed-use medical facility on a 3½ acre site in LaPlace. The property was leased to Ochsner Clinic Foundation for a 20,000 square foot freestanding emergency department and imaging services clinic. Stirling then renovated the closed Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe, converting it into Ochsner’s Northshore Medical Complex. Other notable healthcare projects include the development of four Ochsner Kidney Care Clinics in the greater New Orleans area, the development of St. Tammany Cancer Center in Covington, and the development of the Ochsner-The Medical Complex Grove in Baton Rouge.

Girard Melancon, Baton Rouge Community College’s Vice Chancellor for Workforce Solutions, was elected by the National Skills Coalition to serve as vice-chairman of the board.

The coalition fights for policies that invest in the skills training of American workers.

Melancon has over 20 years of experience working with workforce training programs that meet the needs of communities throughout Louisiana. In 2019, he received the Coalition Skills Champion Award for his work with policy makers and developing partnerships to address gaps in workforce needs.

Franciscan Missionaries of Notre Dame University will recognize four alumni and one community member at its annual Faithful’s Day fundraiser at The Estuary at the Water Campus on February 10.

  • Alicia Vik received the Rising Star Alumni Award. She is a medical assistant with the Baton Rouge Urology Group. She is a double FranU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biology, human medicine and a master’s degree in medical sciences, medical assistant.
  • Sarah Goncalves received the Shining Star Alumni Award. She earned an Associate of Science degree in Radiology from Our Lady of the Lake College, now FranU. Goncalves has been a faculty member at the university since 2012.
  • sisters Marlene Robichaux Colter and Marguerite Robichaux Rome received the Distinguished Alumni Award. Since the 1970s, they have participated in the Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing Alumni Association, helping the organization raise funds to support generations of student nurses.
  • Dr. Redfield E. Bryan received the Franciscan Impact Award. Bryan practiced urology for 30 years and worked tirelessly to support the mission of the health and education ministries of the Franciscan Missionaries of Notre Dame.

Patrick McCoy was named Paramedic of the Year in Safety Management Systems by Ambulance acadienne.

McCoy, a New Iberia native, joined Acadian in 2004 and has been with Safety Management Systems since 2014. Safety Management Systems provides services to all sectors of the energy and industrial construction markets.

Postlethwaite and Netterville, a Baton Rouge CPA and consulting firm, has been selected as a member of Bob Scott’s VAR Stars for the third consecutive year.
