Lake Humane Society executive director dies unexpectedly

MENTOR, Ohio – The Lake Humane Society announced Sunday that Executive Director Lee Nesler has passed away suddenly.

Nesler had been a member of the Lake Humane Society team for six years, starting a low cost wellness clinic, pantry, trap-sterilization-return program and Cpl. Joshua Harmon Pets to Vets program at this time.

The Lake Humane Society said Nesler enjoys spending time with his pets and riding horses. When not spending time with animals, Nelser enjoyed outdoor photography, going to concerts and traveling.

As the Lake Humane Society works to fill Nesler’s position, Lori Caszatt, director of marketing and community partnerships, has been appointed interim executive director.

“No one has embodied the Lake Humane Society’s mission to connect people with pets better than Lee. As we mourn this incredible loss, we are heartened that Lee has made an incredible team at the Lake Humane Society. We are confident that Lori and the rest of the staff will continue to advance the LHS mission in Lee’s absence, ”the Lake Humane Society board said in a statement.

The Lake Humane Society accepts donations in honor of Nesler on its website.
