Port NOLA Board of Directors Appoints New Chair, Jefferson Community Foundation Adds Board Members | Economic news



Jack C. Jensen Jr. was elected Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans.

Jensen replaces Charles H. Ponstein, whose term has expired.

Also elected were Joseph F. Toomy, who will serve as vice president, and Walter J. Leger Jr., who will serve as secretary-treasurer for the nine-month term.

Jensen joined the board in June 2018 when he was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards. He has over 40 years of experience in the transportation, logistics, procurement, value-added, import/export, port development and trucking industries.

Jefferson Community Foundation added three members to its board of directors

Jo Lena Broussard is the Director, Strategic Engagement and Communications for Cornerstone Chemical.

Oscar Chimal is the owner of Los Jefes Grill in Metairie.

shondra williams is the President and CEO of InclusivCare.

Juan Martinez was appointed Director of Higher Education for LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

Martinez, a professor of pathobiological sciences, will oversee the operation of all graduate programs at LSU Vet Med.

He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from the University of Washington. Martinez has completed post-doctoral fellowships at the Foundation for Medical Research, the National Institute for Agricultural Research and the European Organization for Molecular Biology.

Melissa Bouligny Carter was hired as senior vice president of marketing for the Baton Rouge Area Room.

Carter comes from Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, where she served as Director of Brand Marketing from 2019-2022. She has over 20 years of marketing and branding experience, including stints at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and Old Navy.

She graduated from Spelman College.

Adam Holton joined Amedisys as chief of staff.

Holton was most recently Director of Human Resources at Numotion. He previously held the same position at CHS Inc and has held senior human resource positions at General Electric, USAA and Bank One.

He served eight years in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry officer and was deployed with a Marine Corps Reserve Infantry Battalion as a company commander in Lutafiyah, Iraq. , as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Richard L. Beaugh was hired as director of marketing and corporate communications for investment bank.

Beaugh has 30 years of experience creating, directing and implementing marketing and strategic communications campaigns. He previously worked as Director of Strategy for JCW Creative and Director of Communications for Catholic High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Southeast Louisiana and a master’s degree in communications and public relations from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
